Community Guidelines

These apply to anything another person can see: your profile, a public trip, photos, comments, and the discussion inside a trip.

Harassment

Targeting someone with insults, threats, or repeated unwanted contact. This includes following someone between trips to keep bothering them.

Threats and violence

Threatening to hurt someone, encouraging others to, or celebrating violence against a person or group.

Sexual content involving children

Any sexual content involving a minor. We report this to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and preserve the evidence, as the law requires. There is no warning and no second chance.

Adult sexual content

Nudity or sexual content shared where others can see it. Ordinary holiday photos are fine. This is about explicit material, not a swimsuit.

Pretending to be someone else

Using another person’s name, photo, or identity in a way meant to mislead. Parody and fan accounts are fine if it is obvious.

Spam

Bulk or repetitive promotion, links to unrelated products, or creating accounts to advertise.

Other people’s private information

Posting someone’s address, phone number, or documents without their permission.

You can block anyone from their profile. Blocking is mutual: you will not see each other anywhere on Socivia, and they are not told that you blocked them.

• If either of you follows the other, that stops. Unblocking later does not put it back.
• Neither of you can invite the other to a trip.
• On a trip you are both already on, you stay members and still see each other in the members list and in expenses. Their comments and photos are hidden from you. To leave, open the trip and leave it.

Blocking is yours to use and needs no reason. It is separate from reporting: blocking changes what you see, reporting asks us to look at something.

There is a report option on profiles, comments, and photos. Tell us what is wrong and add anything that helps us understand.

We hide the reported item from you straight away, so you do not have to keep looking at it while we review.

We never tell the other person who reported them.

Socivia is a small team. Most reports are reviewed within [response time]. Reports about children or threats of violence are seen immediately, at any hour.

• Leave it alone, if it does not break these rules.
• Remove the content.
• Suspend the account, for repeated or serious breaches.
• Report it to the authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not tell the person who reported something what we decided about another person’s account.

If we removed something of yours or suspended your account, email [appeals email] from the address on your account. Tell us what was removed and why you think the decision was wrong.

A person reads every appeal. We aim to reply within [appeal response time]. If we were wrong, we restore what we removed.

Suspensions for sexual content involving children are not reversible on appeal.

When you report something, we store the report and a copy of the content as it was at that moment. We keep the copy because the person who posted it can edit or delete it before anyone reviews it, and a report pointing at nothing cannot be acted on.

• We keep a report for as long as we need it to keep people safe and to meet our legal obligations, and no longer than that. We do not set a fixed period, because a report about a one-off comment and a report we have had to hand to the authorities are not the same thing.
• If you delete your account, reports you filed stop being linked to you, but the copy of the reported content stays. It is a record about the content, not about you.
• Where the law requires us to preserve something, we keep it for as long as the relevant authority requires, whatever else this page says.
